I am Seyyed Mohammad Marashi, born on July 5, 1991, in Kerman city. I am the youngest of a family of six. My father is Seyyed Hossein Marashi, and my mother is Farideh Hashemi. I have one sister named Tahereh and two brothers named Seyyed Mohammadtaghi and Seyyed Ali. In 2016, I married Ms. Samine Khansefid.
Nine generations before me, our great grandfather, Seyyed Ali Marashi Mazandarani, migrated from Tabarestan (Amol) to Rafsanjan and revived the village of Ali Abad Sadat.
Our family profession is farming. Previous generations were all respected figures, scholars, and virtuous people of the region.
I grew up in Tehran and went to school there. Afterward, I attended Kerman Azad University and obtained a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Management. Concurrently, I started photography. So far, I have held two photography exhibitions in 2012 and 2017. Currently, I am focusing on two lonely and Panorama photography projects.
In 2013, I had the honor of assisting Ms. Marziyeh Boroumand in the film project “City of Mice 2,” produced by Manijeh Hekmat and Ali Sartipi. After that, I worked in the directing team of the film “Mother, the Atomic Heart.”
Over the years, I have made several short and long documentaries and directed two short narrative films.
In 2015, I directed the documentary film “Raees Kol” about the biography of the late Seyyed Mohsen Nourbakhsh, the former head of the Central Bank, which premiered at the Cinema Verite Festival in 2018.
My primary interest is photography. After that, due to my interest in historiography, I love the documentary field. And my passion for cinema drives me towards directing narrative films.
